Yes, I know, I've been slacking. My mind is slacking. I've become boring.
But today, I heard some chick on the radio talking about the lyrics to Carrie Underwood's song "Before He Cheats"--another really good Idol album!!
Anyway she thought some of the lyrics went like this... "I dug my keys into the side of his pretty little souped up four wheel drive, carved my name into his legacy". Her explanation was that the guy was such a loser that his only legacy was his car. I was thinking--Q-tip for your ears!!! I'm pretty sure the words are "leather seats".
One of my favorite commercials in the cell phone one in which they try to figure out the words to Rock The Casbah--and make up all kinds of lyrics for it. Classic!!
Is there any songs in which you've gotten the lyrics wrong?

I get the lyrics wrong to everything. Sometimes on purpose, if I don't like the song and I feel its being overplayed, I'll play with the lyrics and "Weird Al" it based on the first misheard lyrics.

Barry Manilow's "I'd Really Love to see you tonite."
I thought he was saying, "I'm not talking 'bout the linen, and I don't want to change your life..,"
What he actually was saying, "I'm not talking 'bout moving in and I don't want to change your life..,"

"This ain't a song, it's a goddamn arse-face" is one of my recent mishearings.
I love misheard lyrics far, far too much. But I heard 'leather seats'.

There are a few, but the one that comes to mind is Jay Z/Linkin Park's song "Encore." I pretty much made up my own lyrics and then realized how wrong I was when I actually saw the lyrics.

Wow, I feel so dumb. I also thought she was saying "legacy." That's how I found your page actually--I didn't know the title or the artist, so I typed in the lyrics I knew, including "carved my name into his legacy" and your blog was the only result since I apparently got the lyrics wrong! LOL
