Huge Vocabularies

One of my friends is doing an observeship in pediatrics, she just started so she knows some answers, but not all.

Her attending physic an asked her if she knew the vocabulary size of the average 8 year old. She attempted a guess and then was later told that they know approximately 800 words. I'm wondering if I know 800 different words. I hope that I do. I think I do.

  • I went back through some of your older posts. If I discount anything written about American Idol, because American Idol doesn't count towards anything productive, you've got at least 5342 words in your vocabulary.

  • Of course you know 800 words. There are 15 words in these two little sentences.
    (that counts 800 as two words).

  • I hang out with 8 year olds all day...there ain't an average one among them. But they do love the words poo, fart and cookie. Tada!
