Don't Call Me I'll Call You

Do you know people who call you just to call you? Maybe it's just to use their phone or maybe because the person they really wanted to call didn't answer. I have no idea why these people call. When I stupidly answer they always ask "what are you doing"? Well duh, I'm currently talking to you. I was doing something important, or at least important to me until this very moment. If I wasn't doing anything, I would be sleeping or watching television. However your interuption of my activity means I am now talking to you.

And then once you get on the phone, they have nothing to say and expect you to do all the talking. I think they just call to hear my breathing while they go about their own activity. It's like having a body next to them, without the inconvenience of invading their zone of intimacy. I'm serious, this person calls and then sits there silently and every now will say, "so how's it going". I have already told them when I first answered the phone, "it's going okay, I was ______ until you called". So are they even listening?

Sometimes there is even lulls in the conversation where I say "are you even listening to anything I say"? Definitely a waste of a call. I have no idea why I answer the phone. You would think I would take advantage of the caller i.d. and ignore the call. But like a sucker, I always pick up.

I think picking up has a lot to do with my very own boredom. And it's probably the very reason I will continue to pick up whenever this friend of mine calls.

P.S. It's not you Egg--but it is someone that you know!

Should Have Gotten A Picture

I was driving a couple days ago and I saw the strangest thing...some guy was on what looked like a child's bicycle peddling his way home (I think) while balancing a case of beer on his lap. Part of me laughed. But there was a side of me that felt bad that he probably didn't have a car to lug his liquor back home in. I don't think this was just a quick trip to the corner store either. If there was a convenient store located anywhere in my vicinity, I would probably walk there on occasion to burn off the calories I would put on from the junk food purchase I would make there. This guy was a on a busy street and there wasn't a neighborhood for at least two miles in either direction. I am assuming that he bought the beer at gas/convenient store located about 100 feet from where I saw him.

I really should start carrying a camera around. Lord knows I don't know how to operate the camera phone in my Treo. I mean I know how to snap the photos, I just don't know how to upload them into my computer. Yes, I'm that lame. But it's also a blessing I don't just snap random photos. I may have caused some traffic pile up by stopping to take the photo. It would have been a dangerous task. I can't walk and chew gum, so braking, steering and snapping a pic is out of the question. I have to use my blue-tooth gadget to talk on the phone while in the car. I can't even dial--thank goodness for voice activation. Hey Egg, I just yell "Scrambled" into my phone to get you. Oh yeah Egg. you need to post something again soon!!

On that note, my built-in wireless for this laptop stopped working. I don't why, I don't know how. I've tried downloading it's updates to find out that it's already updated. Pisses me off. I bought one of those USB plug in wireless gadgets a couple days ago to use when I'm at a coffee shop or at the library. Slow at molasses, but what can I do?

Now where was I?

Does It Really Work

I've always wondered about these anti-virus, firewalls, anti-spy and scanning programs that one purchases for computer protection. Is it really protecting anything or even scanning or are the numbers that roll during a scan just a normal countdown? How do we really know that viruses come into our computer in the first place?

I'm too afraid to find out. So as my last two months of subscription count down, I've begun to read the back of the packages in the computer section of Circuit City, Best Buy (the place I bought my laptop and now I'm wondering if it really was the best buy for me), and Office Max. I've asked some friends about which is the best program out there. Everyone seems to have a different answer. Since I still claim ignorance about computers and all things electronic (but I sometimes act like I know) I have no idea what to purchase for protection.

I've never met anyone who has had their hard drive wiped out or their laptop shut down. Although come to think of it, my last laptop which shut-down unexpectedly did have protection but still went haywire anyway. Maybe I should put double protection on this thing. But doesn't doubling up take away the sensitivity?

Idol Season

I think I may have figured out the song from the preview. It may be Jon Mclaughlin's Beautiful Disaster. I am not sure yet because I have to see the preview again. I'm sure the artist is either Jon, James Morrison or Mat Kearney. I've been listening to those artists on my iPod for the last month while using the eliptical at the gym.

So I'm pretty sure I have a few favorites on American Idol. I hope that these guys make the cut tonight during Hollywood week. I'm glad it's Hollywood week because at least we are beyond the goofy auditions. I'm almost convinced that some of the people that try out disastrously are just there to be on the show. Do they really think that they deserve to make it to number one?

Anyone else have their favorites yet? Or are you like many of my friends indifferent?

Movie Preview Music

I'm sure everyone has seen clips to that movie Definitely, Maybe. They play it every chance they get. Whatever happens to these chick ficks anyway? They never win any awards or break any money earning records. I figure most just become those DVD's that you are forced to watch once you are in a committed relationship. I think the only person that could force me to watch those types of movies and not have to lay on her back is The Egg (from Spice The Egg). I give her and only her that priveledge of choosing movies for me.

Anyway, way off track here. During the clip they play some music. I looked up the soundtrack and I guess one doesn't exist. This doesn't really matter anyway because sometimes the music they play during the previews isn't the same music they use for the movie. I've noticed this a couple times. So I look up the preview on youtube. None of the previews they have there have the same music that is played for the television previews.

So this clip of the song is stuck in my head. It's catchy and the singer's voice sounds familiar. It's bugging me and frankly I've already wasted too much time investingating. I need to stop. Stop NOW!!

Not The Reason To Watch

One of the best things about the Superbowl has been the half-time show and the commercials. Yes, as much as I like watching the game, I also look forward to seeing the commercials. The last couple bowls there have been some really good ones. I remember during the first break watching and waiting. Nope, no commercial caught my eyes. The second and third break came without even a slight grin.

By the time half-time came there still wasn't any commercials that caught my attention.

Maybe I didn't enjoy the commercials this year because I thought the game was so good and so instead of being entertained by the commercials I was waiting for the actual game to start again. Great game huh? Wow, the Giants won the Superbowl!!

Were there any commercials that caught anyone's attention?

Scrambled Eggs

Woot! One of my best friends in the world, well probably the one person who I can say really and truly gets me, The Egg (many of you have probably read her blog Spice the Egg) finally tagged each other yesterday! We have been playing phone tag for about a month now. I'll call her and get her voice mail and then she'll call me and I'll be playing with myself therefore ignoring the call. It's great to talk about everything that has been shaken and all the spices we've tried out. It was so good to talk to her finally!! She needs to UPDATE her blog so that when I can't get a hold of her, I'll know what has happened--her last post was about being SPICED. I was already peppered with that news.

She said yesterday that if anyone were to listen to our conversations that they would either be amused or confused. I say that no one would be able to follow our rambling and tossed salad topics. We've been saying this since we met in a Kaplan medical review class. Between studying physiology, anatomy and pharmacology, we managed to have some fun and were able to relieve the stress with hilarious conversation and cigarettes on our dorm steps. Most of all I think we found friendship soul mates. I think that type of soul mate in some ways may be better than the marrying kind of soul mates. At least this kind won't use sex as a bargaining chip.

I don't really have anything with substance to write about. I was just excited to finally get in touch with my Egg!!
